SUPPORTING YOUR SON’S RECOVERY — TOGETHER
When a young man struggles, the whole family feels it.
It’s painful to watch someone you love lose confidence, direction, or control — and it’s natural to feel unsure about how to help. At The Edge Crete, we believe recovery works best when families are involved, informed, and supported at every stage.
GUIDANCE FROM THE VERY FIRST CALL
Many parents reach out, uncertain of how to start the conversation at home.
Our admissions team can help you find the right words and approach — guiding you gently from the first enquiry through to helping your son understand that The Edge Crete may be the right place for him. You’ll never have to face this process alone.
A FAMILY-CENTRED APPROACH
While our programme helps young men rebuild focus, confidence, and resilience, we know that family healing is just as important.
Throughout treatment, our team provides:
- Regular updates and communication so you stay informed
- Guidance sessions on boundaries, expectations, and family dynamics
- Access to our 8-Week Rolling Online Family Course, connecting you with other families navigating similar challenges

THE 8-WEEK ONLINE FAMILY COURSE
Our 8-Week Rolling Online Family Course runs year-round, allowing families to join at any time.
Each week explores a key theme — from understanding addiction and communication, to rebuilding trust and preparing for life after treatment. The course is co-facilitated by Jordan Patterson, our London-based Outpatient Director, and our Head of Clinical Services in Singapore. Together, they bring deep clinical expertise and an international perspective, drawing on their experience supporting families across Europe and Asia.
Delivered via secure online sessions, the course includes:
- Weekly live group meetings with Jordan and our clinical team
- Educational modules and reflection exercises
- A supportive international network of families sharing the journey together
This interactive, real-world format helps families feel connected, understood, and equipped to support recovery in a sustainable way.
AFTERCARE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Support doesn’t end when your son leaves The Edge
Our team works closely with families to plan suitable aftercare options back home — including:
- Trusted sober-living houses for structure and stability
- Recovery coaches and mentors for ongoing accountability
- Specialist counsellors and therapists (including those trained in EMDR and trauma-informed care)
- Referrals to local wellbeing and support networks
This ensures that the transition from treatment to home life feels steady, safe, and well-supported — wherever you are in the world.
BEGINNING THE CONVERSATION
If you’re unsure how to approach your son about treatment, our team can guide you step-by-step.
We’ll help you decide what to say, how to say it, and when to try again if he’s hesitant.
Sometimes, a simple and caring message can open the door:
- “We love you, and we’re worried.”
- “We’ve found somewhere that can really help — can we talk about it together?”
WE’RE HERE TO HELP
